Bedding | Omalon Foam History

1969 — Olin Corporation introduced Omalon® carpet cushion, calling it "Kitten Step" and proclaiming that "housewives will enjoy the feeling of luxury underfoot and enjoy vacuuming." A revolutionary "Life of Two Carpets" warranty is offered, which offers to replace the cushion, carpet, and labor.

1970 — The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issue the first seven out of thirteen patents for the Omalon® foam manufacturing process.

1978 — Omalon® carpet cushioning was introduced in the White House.

1980 — Omalon® carpet cushioning took a pounding as 50,000 joggers ran in the New York Marathon. Omalon® foam cushioned their steps.

1985 — Olin Corporation sold the manufacturing rights for Omalon® carpet cushions to Carpenter.

1986 — President Reagan's saddle was cushioned with Omalon® foam.

1997 — Omalon® foam is first used in bedding applications.

1998 — Omalon® foam first used in a line of pillows and mattress pads.

2001 — Omalon® foam introduced into several premium mattress lines.
